Well another successfull Trialsworx...even for Mitchell! He did come away unscathed here! The sections were quite difficult. It was pretty hot as well so we decided to just do 2 laps instead of 3. Even then we had to send out search and rescue for Alex Li.

As usual John Webster won the event although Russell Phillips seems to be closing the gap a little? John rode spectacularly as always!! Jeff Anderson was a little further back but he was up there with me since Wednesday setting everything up and with all the work he did I am sure it took a lot out of him for the competition. Thanks a ton Jeff!!!

The sections were long as usual with Webster being the only Elite rider to make it thru the 'bucks creek section. It was right near the end of the day and he made it thru with about 5 seconds to go, gapping up the entire waterfall and just squeaking thru to a huge eruption from the crowd.
In the Expert category Joe Baxter from the UK won a VERY tight race. Joe had 12 pts, Alex Li had 13 and Zak Maeda had 15. Nice big group of Experts including Mitchell Long and John Goodwin competing for the first time in Expert at Whistler.

In Master Jeff Lenosky fixed his passport problems just in time to win with just 16 pts! Only 4 more than the Expert winner. Jason Yu and Jason Cuthbert rounded out the podium. In Sport Gino Salveo took first by 2 points over Jay K-C. and James Wessels 3rd. Sean Watson rode brakeless and still managed 4th! Cameron Rinkes came up from Oregon but had to DNF due to illness.

In Poussin we had a ton of riders with Danielito winning with 0 pts. The Coupal brothers are VERY glad that Danielito is turning 11 next year!!!! Josh and Ryan Coupal finished right behind Danielito and should dominate the category until they turn 11! Lots of other very young kids including youtube sensation Jackson Goldstone who at 6 still won a medal in the Beginner category.

Kidsworx was a riot as always.....79 kids were registered including many pushbikes and a young boy on a wheelchair who had the biggest smile of the weekend on his face....except when Jeff was helping him up and down the first ramp obstacle! Lots of very cute colour coordinated girls and a little boy with a donald duck helmet and a soother! Kidsworx is the highlight of the Crankworx festival in my opinion!!!!!
Thanks to all who helped with the kids event including Trevor Bodogh from Ontario and Ian Johansen, Lauren for having to sign up that many kids, Jason of course and Jeff as well who was there the entire week. Thanks to John Webster for grabbing some riders and checking for the Friday event (good karma John?).....big Daniel for singlehandedly taking down the Fitz Creek sections....of course the Long and Goodwin families for helping out with everything including making the evenings so much fun! Shirl for all the background stuff that nobody notices...Secret Cycles for donating prizing as well as 2 pushbikes to raffle off, Clif Bar for donating 200 bars, wherestheseat.com and CBTrials for donating prizing....Eric Crowe and Bubba from the muni for getting us those awesome logs.  Again...props to Jason and Jeff for making it happen!!!

I want to thank all those who came out and rode. I also want to thank all the riders who helped reset sections on Saturday morning and help take sections down after the comp. I think that was pretty much all of them. And thanks to Carl for keeping score.

The day started off really interesting. Thanks to the rain in the morning the sections were like ice. The sections had to be modified to be manageable. As careful as we all were on the slick sections, certain Canadians among us who shall remain lastnameless still managed to enter section # 1 and immediately have the bike slide out from under him/her while landing on the rear wheel and crash on to their side, five.

Luckily the sun came out as the day progressed. Things were dry by the third section on the first loop. As things dried out the sections were restored to their full glory. Most of the expert sections were centered around the creek that flows through the park so many of the rocks are water polished to a high sheen. Local youth use the rocks as a slip and slide if that paints a better picture of the level of lubricity when wet.

It was a dead tie for 2nd in expert between Bryan Benson and myself. We both had 2 cleans, 4 ones, 1 three, and 2 fives. This lead to a ride off. It was randomly chosen that we would run section 4 backwards. The first part of that line was the sport line but the end set it apart. I ended up with two dumb dabs plus one move I had to stratodab. Luckily for me Bryan was going for a clean on the last move and fived out. A win for me. Sorry Brian.

The event had a pretty good spectator following since it was held in an open area during a community festival. It even made the local news. I know we are a ways away from the rest of the country (if that is possible while being in the country) but I hope many of you can make the trip out here in the following years. Thanks again everybody.
